Holistic Therapy in San Diego
Holistic therapy at Pacific Bay Recovery treats addiction as a whole-person condition — body, mind, spirit, and community. Our integrated holistic programming complements evidence-based clinical care with the practices that help you actually live a sober life, not just survive one.
What “Holistic” Means in Our Programming
Holistic in serious clinical care does NOT mean substituting alternative practices for medical or psychological treatment. It means recognizing that addiction has physical, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions — and addressing all of them. At Pacific Bay Recovery, holistic modalities are layered on top of (not in place of) evidence-based clinical care, medical management, and dual-diagnosis support.
The Modalities We Offer
Our holistic programming includes yoga and breath work for nervous system regulation, mindfulness and meditation for the inner relationship, nutritional support to repair physiological damage from substance use, exercise and movement for endorphin restoration, art and music therapy for non-verbal processing of trauma, and experiential outdoor activities for nervous system reset and connection. Clients choose what resonates and integrate it into their treatment plan.
Why Whole-Person Care Matters
Addiction depletes the body, fractures relationships, and erodes any sense of meaning. Treating only the substance use leaves the person dehydrated, malnourished, sleep-deprived, isolated, and existentially empty — conditions that make relapse predictable. Holistic care fills those gaps so that sobriety has somewhere to live. Recovery rooted in physical health, embodied presence, and meaningful connection tends to last.
How Holistic Care Integrates With Clinical Treatment
Every client at Pacific Bay Recovery receives evidence-based clinical care — individual therapy, group therapy, medical management, MAT when indicated, dual-diagnosis treatment. Holistic modalities are added based on clinical recommendation and client preference. Your treatment team coordinates the full picture so the parts work together rather than in parallel.
Holistic Therapy in San Diego FAQs
Will I still get evidence-based clinical care?
Yes — that is the foundation. Holistic modalities are added to clinical care, not substituted for it. Every client works with licensed clinicians, medical providers, and case managers.
Is holistic therapy covered by insurance?
The clinical components of treatment are covered by most major PPO carriers. Some holistic modalities (yoga, meditation, nutrition) are included as program amenities; others may have additional costs — we are transparent about this in admissions.
Do I have to participate in all the holistic options?
No. Programming is individualized. You and your clinical team build the right combination for you.
I am skeptical of “alternative” approaches. Is this still right for me?
Yes. Holistic in our setting means evidence-based wellness practices — sleep, nutrition, exercise, stress reduction — that have measurable physiological and psychological benefits. We do not promote unsupported alternative medicine.
