DR. MICHAEL S. DUFFY, D.O.

MEDICAL DIRECTOR, FOUNDER, CEO

With over 30 years of experience in healthcare, from primary care to mental health and psychiatry, Dr. Duffy has worked around the country before finding home in San Diego. Dr. Duffy founded Pacific Bay Recovery in 2012 followed by Pacific Bay Recovery in 2014 after continuously seeing an increased need for those suffering from substance use disorders intensified by mental health concerns. Dr. Duffy is passionate about building on a new paradigm of treatment by incorporating multiple modalities outside of the 12-step realm. Dr. Duffy has an open door policy and is always looking forward to individual sessions with his students and their families and/or support systems- and never fails to go above and beyond.

DR. COREY SCOTT
PHARM.D., AAHIVP APH

ASSISTANT MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Having completed his doctoral degree through the University of Charleston in West Virginia, Dr. Corey Scott joined Pacific Bay Recovery in 2015 after years of experience as a Clinical Pharmacist. As PBR’s Clinical Director of Pharmacy, Dr. Scott works very close to each patient to ensure proper outcomes and management of behavioral and psych medication – thus including specialized treatment or medication as he is a certified HIV & Hepatitis Specialist. Dr. Scott is a key member in monitoring patients through medical Detox to ensure the safety and appropriate outcomes for each patient. Dr. Scott is available daily for individual assessments for all Pacific Bay Recovery patients, including the members of their support system.

DR. DEBORAH E. KATS, PYS. D

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Specializing in process-addiction, enabling, and co-dependency issues; Dr. Kats has been a key component of Pacific Bay Recovery’s clinical team since 2013. Dr. Kats has been working in addiction and chronic pain for over 20 years and has been a licensed psychologist since 1981. She is the proud mother of 2 young-adult children and an avid hula dancer during her free time. Dr. Kats is actively involved in multiple non-profit organizations aimed at de-stigmatizing as well as raising awareness to addiction and mental health illness.

DR. SUSAN SWARTZ, PSY. D

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Susan Swartz spent over 10 years working as a California Marriage and Family Therapist before going back for her PsyD in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Swartz has worked extensively with women diagnosed with eating disorders, families and couples, outpatient mental health, and addiction and recovery. Her orientation is Experiential, Humanistic, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

GREG PHILLIPS, CADC-II

LEAD COUNSELOR

Greg has been with Pacific Bay since 2018. Greg has experience in working in the criminal justice field as an intern with California Drug Court followed by becoming a certified Substance Abuse Counselor through the State of California. Greg’s interests are music, spirituality, fitness, and helping others who struggle with addiction.Greg believes in the power of treatment and recovery and is secure in the idea that miracles happen every day. Greg also leads Pacific Bay Recovery’s Music Therapy groups, fostering fun, creativity, and laughter in recovery.
